The 65-year-long Needham tradition of the Blue Tree Lighting will take place on the Town Common on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m. Caroling begins at 4:45pm with Treble Rebels, NHS A cappella group, to create the festive mood. Retiring Needham Park & Recreation Director, Patty Carey, will lead the countdown and flip the switch. The celebration continues with caroling lead by Needham’s Plugged In singers and the arrival of Santa on a firetruck. Children will be able to visit with Santa on the Town Hall steps.
Come to Town Hall early and enjoy the Needham Lights performances inside Powers Hall from 2-5pm. Kilted Colin returns to dazzle the audience and several local dance studios will showcase their talent. There’ll also be holiday crafts for kids, balloon artists, face painting and refreshments. Then step outside for the tree lighting.
